The difference between the official time (Gun time) and the Chip Time

Official Time
The official time corresponds to the Gun time.
It’s the time from the pistol shot (gun time). It’s the time that elapses on the clock from the start of the race.

Chip Time
It’s the time from the moment the participant crosses the starting line and the chip on their bib is triggered (chip time).

Unless being on the first line of the race, there’s inevitably a difference between the official time and the chip time.
